With the aid of his assistant Krool, the Phantom intends to destroy the Paris opera house.
Details:
The episode of 'Count Duckula', 'A Fright at the Opera', can be considered as another adaptation of Gaston Leroux's immensely successful novel, 'Le Fantôme de l'Opéra' (translated as 'The Phantom of the Opera'). In this episode, the Phantom seeks revenge for all those who had once mocked his musical works by blowing up the Paris opera house.
The Phantom's plan to blow up the opera house involves the kidnapping of the prima donna of the opera, the great Elvira, along with his assistant Krool. He plans to kidnap and take her to his lair in the sewers so he can force her to sing one of his compositions. When Elvira hits a perfect 'Top C' note while singing his opera, the bomb inside the Phantom's great organ would detonate, thereby obliterating anyone who happens to be inside the opera house at the moment, including Count Duckula, Igor and Nanny.
Trivia:
- In Leroux's novel 'The Phantom of the Opera', the Phantom of the Opera is a deformed former illusionist. In the novel, the Phantom is also referred to as the Angel of Music and the Opera Ghost.
- Igor wishes that his master, Count Duckula, resembled the Phantom and his pure villainous nature more (although he is still loyal to the Duckula family).
